Chennai Pigeon — Privacy Policy

Who we are

Chennai Pigeon is a mobile app for pigeon-racing clubs in Tamil Nadu, India. It is operated by the app maintainer (contact below). When this policy says "we," it means the maintainer; when it says "you," it means the signed-in fancier or club admin using the app.

What data we collect

• Your phone number, used for sign-in via SMS one-time-password through Firebase Authentication.
• Your name, profile photo, and role (fancier / club admin / system admin).
• Your loft's GPS coordinates and a photo of the loft, captured at the time you upload them.
• The GPS coordinates of any race-arrival photo you take inside the app.
• Pigeon ring numbers, colours, strains, and pedigree links you add.
• Race results, points, finishing times and rankings tied to your birds and your account.
• Audit-log entries when an admin takes an action (approving photos, changing roles, etc.).
• If you are a club admin and use the "Add members from contacts" feature, the phone numbers and display names of contacts you explicitly select. We do not upload your entire address book.
• A persistent device identifier supplied by Firebase to keep your session signed in.
• Anonymous crash and ANR reports via Firebase Crashlytics. No personal data is included.

Why we collect it

Every field above is collected for one of these reasons:

• Account management. Your phone number, name and profile photo identify you in the app.
• Race functionality. Loft GPS and race-photo GPS are used to compute flight distance and velocity for the leaderboard.
• Club functionality. Your name and photo are shown to other members of clubs you join.
• Safety and abuse prevention. Audit logs and admin moderation help club admins remove bad-faith uploads.
• App reliability. Crash reports help us fix bugs.
• Legal compliance. Phone numbers and audit logs may be requested by authorities under valid legal process.

Who can see your data

• Other signed-in members of any club you join can see your name, profile photo and race history within that club.
• Your club admins and the system administrator can see all of the above plus your phone number for moderation purposes.
• Google, as our cloud provider, processes the data through Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Crashlytics) operating from Google data centres. Google's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
• WhatsApp or whatever app you choose when you tap "Send congratulations" to share a champion card — once you tap Share, the content leaves our app and is governed by the recipient app's policy.
• We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Profile → Delete account, or via the web deletion request below), we immediately remove your profile, photos, birds, loft records, husbandry record, race photos and result rows. Audit-log entries are preserved as an immutable record of administrative actions, but they become anonymous because your user identifier is no longer linked to a profile. Race photos uploaded by other members that you appear in or react to remain visible to those members.

How to delete your account

The fastest path is in-app: open Chennai Pigeon, go to Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. You'll be asked to type the word DELETE to confirm. Deletion is irreversible.

If you have lost access to the app (uninstalled, lost phone, etc.) you can request deletion by emailing mdmansoor26@gmail.com from any address with your registered phone number in the body. We will reply within 7 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.

Your rights

• Edit your name, phone, profile photo and loft data at any time from the Profile and My Loft screens.
• Delete your account in-app via Profile → Delete account.
• Request a copy of your data by emailing the address below.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data we hold about you.
• Withdraw consent for contact-based invitations by asking a club admin not to add your number; data already imported can be cleared by leaving the club.

Children

Chennai Pigeon is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up using a phone you control, contact us and we will remove the account.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS / TLS to Firebase servers and stored encrypted at rest by Google. We use Firebase's authentication tokens for session management. No system is perfectly secure; in the unlikely event of a confirmed data breach affecting your personal data we will notify affected users via the phone number on file.

India DPDP Act 2023

Since this app primarily serves users in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 applies. We act as the data fiduciary for your personal data. You have the right to access, correct, erase and grieve. To exercise any of these rights or to file a grievance, contact us at the email below.

Changes to this policy

When we make material changes to this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, if the change affects how we use your data, surface a one-time notice inside the app the next time you open it.
